Pardon my personal detritus. My mom died and the San
Diego Union Tribune wanted to charge $3110.00 to print her obituary as I think
we all would have liked. Below is the pirated version from their site, the “preview” of the $3k obit.
The SDUT charges a base price of around $300, required lines $80/each for Name, Lifespan, and City fields (so tacking on $240), then lines of text start at $80/line. They offer no low income discount and their military discount only applies if the deceased was military. San Diego is a military town. What the fuck.
In protest, I bought the most basic bitch version of the obituary in print (still fucking over $500) to direct all those who loved my mom here, to my professional website.
My mom was working class. Hairdresser of 37 years here in San Diego County. It’s fucking GREED to ask any resident of this county to pay $80/line to remember our neighbors and announce our community’s loss. She cut hair for the fucking Chargers down the street from their training facility. All those hairdressers told Soros to stay.
Fuck SDUT.
